About

So what’s this all about?

My central focus for this blog is, as you may notice by its name, the idea of a Rose Tinted Reality. To me, that means accepting and not running away from your reality, but choosing positivity. Choosing to “make the best” of the situation you’re in and each day you are presented with. Choosing to find fun in mundane tasks. Choosing to find solutions to the things that are hard. Choosing to see the best in others. Choosing to see the best in yourself, while continuing to work on being a better person everyday.

Honestly, I am not an optimistic person by nature. I remember sitting at a restaurant in 2nd grade as my parents tried to explain to me to have a more “glass half full” mindset, I responded by arguing that they’re the ones to talk, they always get free refills! For a long time I would constantly complain and let little things ruin my mood for a whole day, or make comments I instantly wished I could take back. I wanted to change my ways. I wanted to stop wasting time and energy being negative, but it was a hard journey.

At first I expected to be perfect and simply choose to stop the negativity, but I couldn’t get it right, and I would lie in bed at night hating myself for all the mistakes I wish I hadn’t made that day. I now fully accept that I’m flawed. Of course I am, I’m human. It’s my goal to work towards a happier state of mind, and even though I have to fight my natural tendency of negativity, I will work on it. We can all work on it. You have to live with yourself everyday, you have to listen to your own internal monologue and go through all of the emotions. Do you want that voice to be encouraging and positive or destructive? Do your best to be positive, even the small progress is worth it in the long run.

I started this blog as a way to share my ideas and personality with others in a way I felt I never really could do on Social Media platforms like Instagram. In school I’ve never been able to write so freely about the topics that really interest me or that I want to help others with. We’re confined to writing like a boring, professional scholar about the American Revolution or how MLK appealed to his audience in a famous letter. Don’t get me wrong, I think history and english class can be really interesting sometimes, but I wanted to create this blog as a personal project and give myself permission to write in a different way. This is cheesy but maybe I can I spread a little positivity by sharing lessons I’ve learned in my own experience, tips to help out with organization or stress, or simply making a reader laugh and escape for a few minutes.
